omeletteDiscovered: A Powerful Method to Lose Weight Fast and Keep Your Muscle

Dr. Gregory Ellis, noted author of several cutting edge weight loss books, has opened a weight loss clinic designed to jump start your weight loss. The program creates rapid and safe weight loss.

* Men lose 4-7 pounds per week and women 3-5
* The program that Dr. Ellis is using was developed more than 20 years ago
* It’s based on research first conducted at Harvard

This research looked at the effects of a dietary weight loss regimen that was called a Protein Sparing Modified Fast.

By providing just the right amount of protein of the highest quality, weight loss consists mostly of body fat while precious muscle tissue is spared.

Both carbohydrates and fats are restricted which reduces the release of insulin from the pancreas. Insulin is a fat storage hormone and converts dietary carbohydrates into body fat.

* Helps to maintain muscle mass
* Promotes fat loss
* Tones and revitalizes skin
* Supports cellulite reduction
* Promotes vitality and energy
* Naturally suppresses your appetite
* Provides a rest for an overworked pancreas

The program uses meal replacement products including bars, soups, and powders. These can be made into delicious puddings and drinks. There’s a large variety of more than 45 gourmet foods for you to choose from each day.

For dinner you’ll consume real food such as your choice of beef, chicken, pork, or any other protein-based food. You can also eat several servings of vegetables each day and you are allowed unlimited consumption of lettuce.

The most important aspects of the program are:

* We take you by the hand, the program tells you exactly what to eat and when
* Personal coaching by Dr. Ellis and his coaches
* The foods are provided only to professional healthcare providers such as Dr. Ellis
* Dr. Ellis has an online body composition and body analysis system that he developed and you can only get this when you become a member of his clinic
* Dr. Ellis will show you your ideal weight
* You’ll learn about how to control your weight
* You’ll rapidly lose your belly fat

Why Should You Follow Dr. Ellis’s Program?

We now know that the body converts carbohydrates to body fat. Most programs today still follow the unworkable low-fat eating program which means it’s high in carbohydrates. This is bad for many reasons including the loss of muscle tissue, hunger, and rapid regain of lost weight.

Another misconception today is that there are “good” carbs and “bad” carbs. This idea is total nonsense and several of the leading weight loss plans such as Nutri-System and The South Beach Diet are based on “good” carbs and “bad” carbs.

Because the majority of medical and scientific experts still believe that fat is bad and carbs are good, people consume a large amount of sugar every day. Fruits and whole grain bread products turn to sugar in the blood and are just as bad for your health as sugar, candy, and other “junk” foods.

When you consume just 4 grams of carbs that’s like eating a teaspoon of sugar!

The program is divided into four phases and phase 1 is used until you get close to your ideal weight.

The manufacturer of the gourmet foods does not allow online sales so you’ll have to follow the program as a member of Dr. Ellis’s Weight Loss Clinic.

The costs include a one-time administration fee of $195.00 plus the cost of the food products and the supplements.

Call 610-459-0200 for more information about the program. This consultation will cost $50.00 and is payable by MC or Visa. The fee will be deducted from the admin fee when you join the program.

Healthy Eating: It’s Time for a Revolution

October 13, 2009 by Dr. Greg Ellis

food-pyramid2What is Healthy Eating?

How is it that the vast majority of people are talking about a form of eating called Healthy Eating? It’s a universal expression echoed by almost everyone. The idea has rolled over the population like a massive juggernaut.

The definition is pretty much the same regardless of the source:

  • the government
  • individuals
  • dietitians
  • doctors
  • universities
  • groups and organizations

They all preach basically the same approach. Healthy eating is a diet that is:

  • low in fat
  • angled toward vegetarianism
  • high in grains, fruits, and vegetables
  • if meat is included it must be lean
  • reduce the intake of junk food including sugar

The main scourge of healthy eating say the proponenets would be the consumption of animal fat, particularly saturated animal fat.

How is it that the healthy eating diet evolved? We’re told that science has proven that fat is bad for us; that fat and cholesterol are the primary cause of heart disease.

The media leads in the distribution of these healthy eating messages. All the celebrities champion the healthy eating mantra. We’re told by celebrity Drs., such as Dr. Oz, what healthy eating is all about: eat broccoli every day. Dr. Oz is a surgeon as I understand it and I wonder when he ever had the time to truly search the studies on nutritional biochemistry.

Worse yet, if even he did, studies are often biased, misinterpreted, nnd accepted for publication only if they meet the requirements of a particular belief system such as fat and cholesterol cause heart disease.

This is exactly what happened during the last sixty years. Our healthy eating of today grew from a belief system, from an agenda, and much like a disease, it infested our society, our culture, and the world’s culture until it became one of the most powerful dogmas in all of dietary history.

Two million years of nutritional anthropology was just trashed to create the notion of modern-day healthy eating. We can’t afford 100 years of so-called science to quash 2,000,000 years of human experience.

Plus, the science is clear and has been so for more than fifty years, it’s just that few read the real science and allowed belief systems to rule the day.

Since the popularity of a carbohydrate-restricted diet soared in 2002, a group or researchers has show that it is far superior to the low-fat diet and prevents or eliminates many degenerative disease states.

The Revolution is upon us but the Establishment will not cave because it must defend its belief systems. Thomas Kuhn showed this in his book The Structure of Scientific Revolution. There he spelled out how futile it is to ask science to look at new ideas.

This Revolution must be led by the people, people who really care about their health and don’t want to any longer be held captive by the Establishment.

What’s the Outcome of Consuming this Dietary Regimen?

Diseases of civilization are rampant:

  • diabetes
  • osteoporosis
  • heart disease
  • cancer
  • neurological disorders
  • inflammatory diseases
  • obesity

The list is far longer, yet on and on we go, allowing the medical establishment to look for the causes of these diseases as if we did not already know the answers. But no one wants to change their thinking because they say it’s already figured out.

The experts’ heads are stuck in the sand.

Here’s a term everyone must become familiar with: Glycation. This is the primary cause of all of these diseases, not fat and cholesterol. I’ve written about it on this site and it’s my goal to help people realize that they are killing themselves by consuming a high carbohydrate diet.

And this includes all the “healthy” whole grains, fruits, and many vegetables that people consume everyday.

People, come to understand the facts and save yourself from the carbohydrate scourge. I’m ushering in a new era that places the blame for many diseases on the healthy eating regimen that exists today. The emphasis was that carbs were involved in obesity, not disease. I want to change this and shift the focus to diseases cauaed by consuming carbohydrates, even so-called “healthy” carbohydrates such as fruit.

Ten Exercise and Nutrition False Beliefs

grouprunPeople Hold Many False Ideas About Nutrition and Exercise

Here are ten common ones:

1. You Can Change Your Metabolism or Metabolic Rate

This is a major false belief and it’s championed everywhere you look. Your resting metabolism relates to your body size. If you gain weight, metabolism increases a bit and likewise if you lose weight it decreases. But you do not have volitional control over your metabolism any more than you can control your temperature. These, and many other functions, are regulated features of life.

2. Add a Lot of Muscle and Become a Fat-Burning Machine

Adding muscle is not easy. Muscle at rest burns 5 calories per pound over 24 hours and fat burns 2 calories per pound. So, added muscle AT REST doesn’t do much to increase you calorie burn.

3. You Can Get Rid of Fat by Working Out and Changing It Into Muscle

Fat is fat and muscle is muscle — you cannot convert one into the other.

4. Eating Non-Fat Foods Means You Can Eat All You Want

Calories control your weight, so eating less fat and eating more carbohydrates and protein will increase your calorie intake and you’ll get fat.

5. You Can Target Specific Areas of Your Body to Lose Fat

There is no such thing as spot reduction of fat tissue. You accumulate fat in areas dependent upon your own body’s fat-storage pattern.

6. Eat Many Small Meals a Day to Increase Calorie-Burning

This is an old false belief as it has been around for years and forms the basis of many modern-day, popular weight loss plans. The idea is that it uses up calories to burn the newly consumed food. Research clearly shows that the digestion and processing of food uses about 10% of your total daily calorie burn. This is known as the Thermic Effect of Food.

7. Carbohydrate is the Preferred Fuel of Your Body

This is another major blunder that causes people many problems and makes most diet and weight loss programs ineffective. Fat is the preferred fuel and, in fact, 90% of your calorie burn at rest comes from fat. The body will burn what you feed it and if you eat more carbs then it’ll burn more of those but it’s really programmed to burn fat.

8. This Exercise Burns 3 Times More Calories Than This or That Exercise

This is another great marketing tool. You body can only burn so many calories per minute. You can train yourself to burn more per minute but there is still an upper limit. You burn more calories depending on the amount of muscle that is active during the exercise.

9. Running is Better Than Walking

You’ll burn more calories per minute running but walking is good enough to become very fit and you’ll enjoy it more.

10. The Fat You Eat Turns Into the Fat on Your Body

Actually, the body doesn’t very easily store the fat you eat as body fat unless you eat it with carbohydrates. It is the carbohydrates that you eat that get rapidly converted to body fat. This textbook biochemical fact is unknown and the promotion of the ‘fat to fat theory’ is the undoing of many people’s efforts to control body weight.

These ten false beliefs are the tip of the iceberg and are the basis of my next bookgrouprun : EXPOSED! The Great Diet Book Scam. The proliferation of an endless stream of weight loss books is never-ending because people continue to fail at weight loss.

It really is simple if you know all the facts as I spell out in Ultimate Diet Secrets lite.

Acai Berry Hype

berryAnd Hype in General

Surfing the Internet for Weight Loss Supplements…

turns up an overwhelming number of sites extolling the virtues of the acai berry.

A review of the most recent 100 posts turned up only four that suggested using the acai berry as an effective weight loss product was a scam.

Read about those here…

Scammed by acai-berry site? You may be able to get money back - acai berry I recently wrote about the rash of scammers offering ‘free’ trials of acai-berry weight loss products. Today we learn that some of those taken in by these shady dealings stand to get a little of their money back, …

$350000 for acai berry drink customers - NextAdvisor Daily - A couple of weeks ago, Joe blogged about the acai berry and the outlandish claims made about its supposed health benefits. Yesterday, Arizona’s Attorney General.

Açai of relief | MNN - Mother Nature Network - You can’t browse the Internet without running across at least one: giant banner ads touting miraculous weight-loss and cure-all elixirs made from the exotic South American açai berry. This staple of the Amazon, a small blueberry-like …

I looked up acai berry (or just acai) and weight loss at the National Library of Medicine. Twenty-two papers appeared and not one had anything to do with weight loss. This means that no study has ever been completed and submitted to a reputable medical or scientific journal on the results of a study of acai berry and weight loss.

I’ve not been one to be a proponent of using references from the literature in my weight loss books; I received so much flak on this that in subsequent books, I caved under the pressure.

My arguments against this are simple:

  • most people could not read the papers anyway
  • most people won’t even get the papers
  • few people have the training and background to do a pro/con on what they read
  • the literature can be very biased, i.e., that cholesterol and fat cause heart disease
  • you’d have to do exhaustive research to find out  that isn’t true because the journals rarely published the articles that debunked this theory (for more info read on this site and search “cholesterol myths”)

But you should be able to have at least one double-blind study so even if an author did not provide a reference, then one could do a search on it at the National Library of Medicine (pubmed).

I’m amazed at the vast number of people who convince themselves of these ideas. We’re moving very rapidly into the Age of Delusion.

The Internet Hype About the Acai Berry and Weight Loss Shows Just How Scary the Internet Can Be

How do people actually get to the truth anymore? It’s very difficult, if not impossible.

If Acai Berry Did Work There Must Be a Mechanism of Action

Now, it’s well-known that weight loss (fat loss) is purely a function of calories in vs. calories out. If you type in weight loss anywhere, say Twitter, you’ll discover that people and even the self-appointed weight loss experts have no clue about this basic fact. They conjure up all kinds of thoughts but always dance around this basic fact.

Wonder why we’re all so fat — you couldn’t find the truth if you were standing on it.

Confusion reigns supreme.

For our friend the berry, the most bizzare claims are conjured up:

  • removal of toxins in the colon
  • the power of the anti-oxidants
  • appetite suppression
  • removal of cellulite
  • on and on it goes
  • my favorite is that it increases your metabolism

That idea, of course, is the major hypester used by all the weight loss scam artists that abound in nature.

Folks, You Can’t Change Your Metabolism. And if You Believe You Can Then You Must Believe in Levitation

As a scientist, I have to ask what does this miracle berry do? It must somehow affect calories in vs. calories out.

If it doesn’t do that, then it’s not any good for weight loss.

Knowledge About Herbs Has Increased Exponentially

rhodiola1The Use of Herbs is Huge in Alternative Medicine

One of the earliest publications about plants for healing dates to 2800 B.C.

This document was written by a Chinese medical practitioner and lists 366 plant drugs used to heal various ailments.

Early Chinese medical philosophy argues that disease develops when there’s a disturbance of the balance between yin and yang, the two polar opposites that make up the core theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Medicinal plants:

  • help to increase resistance in the body
  • eliminate disease-causing agents
  • restore balance between yin and yang

Centuries of Observation, Practice, and Experience are the Framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Medicinal plants were classified according to their properties and actions. These properties guide the practitioner in his use of them.

Each medicinal plant is classified according to four properties:

  • cold
  • hot
  • cool
  • warm

The use of medicinal plants and acupuncture are the foundation of the treatment for health problems in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Interestingly, acupuncturists and plant prescribers in Chinese medicine don’t talk about specific diseases as do doctors who practice western medicine.

The Practice of Using Medicinal Plants in the United States was Based on What Primitive People Learned

Samuel Thomson (1769-1843) devised a set of plant recipes used and known to native U. S. Indians. He patented his system and sold the rights to would-be-practitioners.

“Thomasonianism” was used by one to five million people in the United States in the mid- to late-1800’s.

Later in that century, the study of plants became more “scientific” with the development of “Eclecticism” and the opening of the Cincinnatti Eclectic Medical Institute. This remained open until 1935.

Both of the above practices were theoretically based on vitalism, described as:

  • adhererance to the idea that the body has a “life force”
  • plant users agreed that internal problems are represented by visible symptoms
  • the theory urged the physician to rely on his sense-perception in prescribing the plant
  • this philosophic position was and is in direct contrast to the vision of conventional medicine

Today, Unlike the United States, Europe — Particularly Germany and Italy — Aggressively Study Plant Medicine

The German Commission E Monographs were first released in 1998. In Germany, 600-700 different plant medicines are sold, singly and in combination. About 70% of physicians prescribe medicinal plants, whereas in the U. S., physicians know little about them and rely on pharmaceutical drugs.

It was in 1976 that the Federal Republic of Germany defined plant remedies in the same manner as other drugs — they categorized herbs for:

  • preventing disease
  • alleviating suffering
  • correcting physical injury
  • for symptoms of illness
  • to influence the nature, state, or function of the body

One of the Most Fascinating Outcomes of the Study of Herbs is the Understanding of “Adaptogenic” Plants

Most herbs are used for specific ailments, but the most powerful use of herbs is for general purposes. For example, Echinacea (purple coneflower) is used as a general immune system builder.

Russian research has contributed to much of what we know about “adaptogens,” which have the capacity to increase the whole body’s resistance to germs, stress, cold, and mental challenges.

The characteristics of an adaptogenic herb are:

  • it must be absolutely harmless
  • it must act broadly in the body
  • it must increase resistance
  • its action must be non-specific
  • its action must be normalizing and stabilizing

So, as you experiment with herbs, you’ll receive the best results by using adaptogenic herbs, whose actions have been charted only since World War II.
