Seven Nutrition Mistakes

Nutrition Talk is All Over the News and Much Misinformation Abounds
1. Everybody is Using Fish Oil also Known as Omega 3 Fatty Acids
It all started with the Eskimo’s so-called good health that people thought came from eating fish. Recently, researchers and marketers jumped all over it. What they missed is that Omega 6 fatty acids are far more important than Omega 3’s. If you consume too many Omega 3’s that blocks the use of the Omega 6’s. The result is a nutritional deficiency.
2. Many Supplement with Zinc
Both copper and zinc should be balanced and the ratio of zinc to copper intake should never exceed 10 to 1; that’s 10 milligrams of zinc to 1 milligram of copper. All the classic signs of cardiovascular disease that in the past has been blamed on cholesterol and fat actually occur with a zinc/copper imbalance.
3. Mineral Imbalances
Minerals take up space in a capsule so manufacturers scrimp on minerals to save money and because people want it all in one pill.
4. Shotgun Approach
This is where individuals purchase a jar of this and a jar of that. I recently reviewed the supplement list for one of my clients — it was two pages long! And he was still missing things.
5. Using Supplements as Drugs
The popularity of using supplements to fight disease is high. Many people have come to believe that many diseases occur because of nutritional deficiencies. Nutraceuticals is a term that describes using supplements to fight disease.
6. People are Missing Out on Energy Medicine Because It’s Time Has Not Come
It’s all on the fringes: acupuncture, homeopathy, radionics, and hands on healing. It’s 30-40 years out yet. How do I know? Because all the stuff I began to do in 1970, that no one else was doing, is now posted on all the magazines at the checkout counter at the supermarket. Energy medicine is the next big thing. The recent success of the book, The Secret , is part of this movement.
7. Continuing to Consume a Low-Fat Diet
The news is in, but it hasn’t gotten out yet: the low-fat diet is a health hazard. By definition, a low-fat diet is high in carbohydrates which means that glycated proteins will form. This news is also in, but not out yet: glycated proteins are responsible for all degenerative diseases.
Fighting Fatigue Has Never Been Easier

In the Nutritional Supplement Industry Outrageous Claims for Nutritional Superiority and Improvements in Health are the Norm, But Not the Truth
It’s rare that any product can match the claims that manufacturers shout. This is clear to the Food and Drug Administration which has resulted in recently enacted laws in an attempt to cut down on fallacious claims.
It’s rarer still that any manufacturer subjects their products to rigorous scientific evaluation. However, I introduced a product that will meet the claims I make with back-up by scientific studies. This product has increased the endurance time for laboratory animals by 100-250%!
The application of this product to sports performance and energy enhancement for daily living, for those not involved in athletic competition, is beyond anything ever produced by a nutritional supplement.
Why?
Because there’s no product on the market, nor has there ever been a product on the market, that has been proven scientifically to increase athletic endurance and provide more energy for non-athletes.
Infomercial
In 1997, we made an infomercial to tell the X-Cell-R8 story so that all the people suffering from chronic fatigue, with all its disabling symptoms, could find hope.
I have pasted the whole infomercial on my website. There are ten Segments averaging about three minutes in length each. On my home page, there’s a video of the commercial that we used when we ran this on TV.
Each post has a link to all ten Segments and I’ve listed them in the order they were in during the infomercial. It’s best to view them from Segment 1 through Segment 10 so you can follow the history and realize the power of X-Cell-R8.
Each post has a link at the end of the video to take you to the order page for Dr. Ellis’s Fatigue Elimination Products.
Use X-Cell-R8 every day for wonderful increases in energy and endurance.

Read Part 1 to this Post on the Energy-Increasing Power of X-Cell-R8
I Recruited a Nutritional Biochemist to Help Me Study the New Product
I worked with Dr. Orien Tulp of Drexel Universty and we first tested the product to see if the bond was strong and we found that it stayed 95% chemically intact when tested in an acid environment.
Then we tested it for it’s ability to increase endurance in both animals and humans, and these results were dramatic as well.
After these results came in, we began to market X-Cell-R8 in 1994.
X-Cell-R8 increases power and endurance through multiple physiological and biochemical pathways:*
- the body produces ammonia when muscles contract; ammonia is a major cause of fatigue
- X-Cell-R8 enters into the energy pathways inside the cells, directly contributing to an increase in energy*
- the amino acid carries magnesium into the cell; magnesium is an important part of cellular energy production*
- X-Cell-R8 alters the electrical activity in nerves increasing their responses*
X-Cell-R8 will provide benefits and energy increases to many people:*
- athletes*
- working mothers*
- busy executives*
- active grandparents*
- at least 80%-90% of people who try this product have an increased energy level*
- chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia patients LOVE X-Cell-R8*
X-Cell-R8 Stands Head and Shoulders Above its Competitors
There are many energy products such as bee pollen, ginseng, various vitamins, powdered drinks, liquid drinks, and high doses of B-vitamins; these represent just a short list.
Marketers make claims about these supplements and their ability to increase energy and endurance.
I haven’t seen any products that are in a class with X-Cell-R8. Even the original Laborit formula beat all of those other pretenders to the throne. X-Cell-R8,with it’s chelated mineral/amino acid ingredients, is an incredible product.
I give a 100% money-back guarantee on the product.
X-Cell-R8 is a great energy nutritional supplement and you can order it right now by clicking here.

The Nutritional Supplement Industry is a Huge and Very Confusing Business

If You Want to Use Them, How Do You Choose the Supplements That’re Right for You?
The nutritional supplements industry expanded greatly after World War II. Today, more than 90% of all supplements are sold as “nutraceuticals,” or supplements taking on the roll of pharmaceuticals.
In other words, people are using nutritional supplements to fight disease. But the FDA doesn’t allow manufacturers to make disease claims. No matter, many still do as the FDA is so under-staffed that they can’t really cover the country and bring down enforcement actions.
The FDA requires a Nutrition Supplement Fact label on every bottle. They think this will help consumers make “educated” nutritional supplement choices. But, consumers really have no idea what the writing in the panel means.
- for example: producers put in lots of cheap nutrients like B vitamins and skimp on important nutrients such as minerals
- you can see this right on the label in the column that lists % DV (Daily Value), % RDA, or % RDI
- B vitamins are often 5000% the DV and minerals are often under 100% of the DV
- minerals take up lots of space in the capsule and to get the amount you need would increase cost (bad for the maker) and cause you to take more capsules (not what most people want to do)
- nutrient balance is very important but cost/profit concerns negate any interest in this
- why worry as the manufacturer knows the consumer has no clue how to evaluate the supplement anyhow
I’ve Studied This Topic Since I Was Twelve Years Old
I Became Desperatly Obese and Jumped Headfirst Into Pills and Potions to Solve My Problem
I’ve learned a few things. The nutritional supplements I took did not solve my weight problem. That was diet and exercise. But they did contribute to improvements in my health. It was far easier in the 1960’s to understand this topic because there weren’t many products out there.
Today, you’ve got all the multi-level marketing companies, vitamin and mineral companies, and many others. It’s no different than the weight loss industry; it’s about marketing and making money. Are there good ones out there? Yes, but they’re few in number.
I challenge you to look at the bottles and see how many have a balanced ratio of nutrients as I taught you above.
Essential Nutrients vs. Nutraceuticals
Your first concern in choosing a nutritional supplement is to choose essential vitamins and minerals. These are the ones your body cannot make each day and you must get them from your diet and/or from a supplement:
- there are 30 different nutrients in this group
- these include both vitamins and minerals
- minerals are harder to get than vitamins so one should concentrate on them
Nutraceuticals are nutrients for which humans have no known need. These include herbs and other newer, modern- day substances such as lycopenes and pycogenol.
There’s much empahasis on using a dizzying array of nutraceuticals to fight against disease.
The supporters of using supplements this way claim that we’re all suffering from nutrient deficiencies and the result is disease.
There’s some truth to this because many people eat refined foods (nutrients have been stripped out) and our soil is over-worked and has less nutrients than it did fifty years ago.
Environmental Pollutantion is a Very Big Concern Today
Few people realize the extent of the pollution problem.
Dr. Henry Schroeder of Dartmouth University claimed more than 35 years ago that five toxic metals were responsible for 95% of all illnesses and 50% of all deaths in the US.
OK, that’s far from a nutrient deficiency but it actually represents a toxic overload.
Our bodies have key enzyme systems that detoxify pollutants and a mineral or vitamin deficiency will reduce enzyme capacity.
Cytochrome P450 is the primary liver enzyme responsible for eliminating toxins. Low levels of calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc cause problems in the manufacture of this enzyme.
Good nutrition combined with reasonable and balanced nutritional supplement use can help protect against this toxic overload.
Learn Some Basics About Choosing Your Supplements
I’ve written a basic primer book on the subject:
- supplements help if chosen wisely
- unwise choices can create problems
- one of my clients was taking supplements with a zinc to cooper ratio of more than 200 to 1
- ideal is no more than 10 to 1
- what’s the risks? heart disease, high blood pressure, and immune system suppression
- what happened to him? A non-lethal heart attack
You need to know what you’re doing.
Check out my little book, The Vitamin & Mineral Hoax, Rip-Offs and Lies at Your Expense. This willl give you a comprehensive overview of the nutritional supplement industry and get you on the straight path to good supplement choices. Knowing how this industry works will save you money too.
You must be a knowledgeable consumer.
The Story Behind the Mis-Use of Omega-3 Fish Oil
February 16, 2009 by Dr. Greg Ellis
Filed under Anti-Aging, Health Issues, Healthy Diet, Nutritional Supplements
Omega-3 Fish Oil is a Widely Touted Nutritional Supplement
Unfortunately, the majority of the information regarding this product is, in fact, mis-information.
Further, and more unfortunate, is the fact that many people now supplement their diet with only the omega-3 fish oils rather than the full omega oil complex of essential fatty acids, including omega-6 fatty acids.
Not Well-Known is that There are Two Classes of Omega Oil Essential Fatty Acids: the Omega-3 Family and the Omega-6 Family
The omega-3 family is often in the form of fish oil which contains the nutrient substances EPA and DHA; flax seed oil is another carrier of omega-3 fatty acids. These omega-3 fatty acids contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).
Recent research has focused on the beneficial effects of EPA and DHA in:
- heart disease
- bipolar disorder
- learning disorders
- attention deficit disorder
The omega-6 fatty acid-omega oil family includes linoleic acid (LA), arachidonic acid (AA), and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
The average North American eats a high amount of linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acids) in processed foods, margarine, and vegetable oils. American diets contain a lot of arachidonic acid in meat, eggs, and some fish.
There are Several Reasons Why Most Nutritionists are Simply Wrong in Their Interpretations About Human Essential Fatty Acids and Omega Oil Needs
First, the normal rate of conversion of linoleic acid to gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and additional end-products in the metabolic pathway, is relatively slow in humans.
For example, vegetarians consume primarily linoleic acid and consume very few of the down-line essential fatty acids normally produced along the omega-6 pathway.
Again, linoleic acid is poorly converted to GLA.
Contrary to popular belief, within a community of people whose lifestyles are otherwise similar, vegetarians live less long than non-vegetarians, so the reduced supply of GLA may not be beneficial.
The argument goes that linoleic acid is in abundant supply so there’s no need for more omega-6 intake. The failure of this argument is that little of the linoleic converts to the biologically active forms of omega-6 fatty acids.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is one of the essential fatty acids in the omega oil family. Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is found in food and can reverse all the features of the essential fatty acid deficiency.
Omega-6 fatty acids have at least four roles in the body:
- maintenance of cellular membrane structure
- formation of short-lived cellular regulation molecules
- control of skin permeability to water, including the gastro-intestinal tract and the blood-brain barrier
- regulation of cholesterol manufacture
The Omega-6 Fatty Acids Have Been Virtually Ignored, Particularly by Scientists Who Should Know Better!
Deficiencies of omega-6 fatty acids in animals and humans lead to the development of multiple biochemical and biological abnormalities. In contrast, it has proved extremely difficult to demonstrate biological abnormalities in animals deprived only of omega-3 fatty acids.
The important point, here, is that for omega-3 fatty acids to express their normal biological effects, they must be given with omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-6 fatty acids are biologically active when given without omega-3 fatty acids. In human milk and in most tissues of the body, the ratio of omega-6 fatty acids to omega-3 fatty acids is in the range of 3:1 to 9:1.
Diseases Surely Follow an Unbalanced Intake of Essential Fatty Acids
Many factors including:
- aging
- diabetes
- nutritional factors
- stress related hormones
- and viral infections interfere with the formation of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA)
Disease states, such as eczema and premenstrual syndrome, result from impaired linoleic acid metabolism: that is, the production of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) from linoleic acid.
The only solution, therefore, is the direct provision of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) to by-pass the impaired step.
I’d urge anyone who has received advice to use omega-3 fish oils, alone and without GLA omega-6 fatty acids, to rethink what you’re doing with your esssential oil supplement. Taking fish oil alone is a dietary mistake.
